DISCLAIMER : Photo heavy post So for the past week, I was having the time of my life, sunbathing, exploring, hiking and relaxing in Cairns. I had never been to Cairns before so I was extremely excited, and had already started counting down the nights till I would be surrounded by the shade of the palm trees and heat of the Queensland sun weeks before. Day 1 Our first full day in Cairns consisted of the activity I was most excited for. In some ways I was happy that I was getting to experience the activity so early in the trip, but in some ways I was also quite sad as that would mean that it would be over and done with in a blink of an eye! Of course I am talking about the Great Barrier Reef and going snorkelling! It was absolutely amazing as I saw so many coral & fish! We were not allowed to take photos with our phones or go pros in the water, therefore the lack of photos underwater. Day 2 This was definitely one of my absolutely favourite days of all seven. We rode on the Kuranda scenic train down to Kuranda, which by the way had the best scenery I had ever scene and sits very closely behind New Zealand in the ratings, where we explored the butterfly garden, had one of the best lunches I had ever had and then rode on a cable cart all the way back down to Cairns! Truly magical. Day 4 On the fourth day we travelled to the Daintree Rainforest and also rode on a river cruise along the river to see if we were lucky enough to sight a crocodile. I was ecstatic when I saw a female croc, sunbathing very close to the riverbank, and her intricate designs on her backside were merely showing through the water. In the Daintree Rainforest we walked through the World Heritage Site, and observed the noises and sights on display. After a lovely outing, we decided to treat ourselves with some delicious Daintree homemade ice cream, which was served in a very cute little pot filled with four scrumptious flavours. One of our main objectives that day was so spot a cassowary in the wild and we were very lucky when we saw a male cassowary roaming the road with his two children. Day 5 Another very adventurous and exciting day which consisted us of visiting Hartley's Crocodile Farm, where we again went on another cruise, but this time got to spectate in some feeding and display crocs. After, we drove to Port Douglas, where we sat on the famous 'Four Mile Beach' admiring the view of the beachside. After a spectacular week, I am actually very happy to be back home and can just laze around and do nothing like I always do ahahhah. Can't wait to go back!! Comment below what you plans for summer are or if you live in the Northern hemisphere, what you did in summer! :)
